The visor design below is 3D Printed Face Shield
- Full face plastic shield
- This is a home made protection device and does not have any PPE certification or approval – the user and the user’s employer must agree to use this at their own risk. The user is responsible for all cleaning
- 3D Printed in various colours
- Come preassembled but bulkier / more costly to ship
- This design uses off-the-shelf stationery grade acetate A4 sheets which are readily available and low cost. The frame is 3D printed with a top ‘headband’. No elastic is required. The acetate sheets can be re-fitted into the shield and the corners can be radiused using scissors. In this way, it is easy for the transparency to be replaced periodically by the user.
- Can be used with either: GBC A4 HiClear binding covers 200 micron CE012080E, Acetate Sheets or PETG 0.5mm max
Laser Cut Face Shield
- Full face plastic shield
- This is a home made protection device and does not have any PPE certification or approval – the user and the user’s employer must agree to use this at their own risk. The user is responsible for all cleaning
- Laser cut
- Comes flat packed – easy to ship. Very quick and simple assembly required
- The design consists of the visor itself plus two strapping pieces (at the top and bottom). The material is PETG sheet (0.5mm or 1mm depending on availability) which is clear and has very good optical properties, maximizing visibility when worn. All three pieces (visor and two straps) are cut out on the laser cutter in a single operation. The product can be shipped flat in an envelope, to be assembled by the user. None of the parts is replaceable so the whole thing should be replaced periodically.
- Secure with button hole elastic (not shown on photos)
- It may be necessary to add padding to the top strap which is worn against the forehead and some self-adhesive foam rubber can be supplied
- Both visors are secured to the head using a band of button-hole elastic (not shown on photos) which has a series of buttonholes so that they are length-adjustable by inserting the tabs either side of the visor into the button-holes.
- Both designs afford enough room for the wearing of other items such as spectacles and mouth-and-nose masks (underneath the visor).
- User are responsible for their own cleaning. To minimise the risk of SARS-COV2 contamination, WHO recommends cleaning with a soap solution or sterilisation with ultraviolet light.
- The masks are designed to be an effective physical barrier with the shield. The is not a medical device.
- The masks are intended for short-term usage, probably no more than 1 month – but the user must take responsibility for this.
- Please note, there is no formal MHRA approval in place.
